Your something like a sunset

You’re something like a sunset soothing and all when you move it’s beautiful Remember when I asked you why you were so different? You said “While everyone else was getting bed time stories I got lessons about the Haitian Revolution When night sparkled three weeks straight Cause slaves got tired of smelling funky Hemp clothes ripped into shreds Every time they got beat with bloody fists and whips They couldn’t take it any more so they burned it all down Flames dancing like freedom I was taught to be independent” See I admire you And all those women Who switch just because they think its fun And wear baggy clothes most days since us boys theses days don’t know how to tell a girl with a flag pole spine that she looks beautiful how about you come hither You bundle of independence Lets make love tonight as if there will be no tomorrow Because honestly I want to go to work one day With love scars So when people ask me what happened I’ll Tell them I was in a war zone last night My bed was a battlefield We kept going until we blacked out We had a hell of a time last night when I’m older, I hope to sow a seed into your womb we’ll make a garden together Our kids will Sprout with the words liberty Tattooed across their finger tips So when people notice them They’ll know that they come from a bloodline That will lead back to Dolores Huerta, Lolita Lebron and Pedro Campos Political activists Our kids will make a difference They will teach teachers that success is not Just getting paid but working to change lives they’ll have kids surrounding council tables with fingers drenched in paint legos laid out they’ll play for thirty minutes until that red school bell rings then they’ll get serious using tables and index fingers to make blue prints for future schools, and community centers the models will be made out of legos so they can color code it before they even start building the real thing Do you remember when you asked me “what would I say to a girl like you?” I have an answer now 2 things 1.you look beautiful when your hairs in a bun and you wear loose cloths cause you hate tights I mean you like to be free 2. don’t be afraid to let your personality bounce off your hips when you switch let people know that your not always serious show them that you look like a sunset
