On Your Way

Staring off a cliff,

Will you take that step?

Staring on to University,

Will you take that step?

Make every step count.

Make every step worthwhile.

Don’t ever look back and say,

“I wish I would’ve taken that step.”

Do look back and say,

“Look where all those steps have taken me.”

Every step you take may not be easy,

But every step you take, you learn.

Your step into the hospital,

You learn your baby brother is born.

Your step into school,

You learn the value of education.

Your step toward greed,

You learn consequence.

Your step toward God,

You learn unfaltering love.

Every step takes you some place new.

Some place inviting.

Some place disliking.

Some place that only you can chose.

With every step comes a past,

They make those memories that always last.

But don’t let your steps turn into a run,

Because the faster you go,

The less you will grow.
