You're beautiful and you're intelligent
Dear Akilah,
You’re beautiful and you’re intelligent. I know daddy didn’t tell you that enough.
Growing up, you have to control that temperament. That anger growing inside is rough.
Kids in your past life insulted you to the core. “Akilah’s ugly and she’s a whore.”
Little did they know you never had any sexual relationship before.
But don’t worry because after eighth grade, you won’t have to see them anymore.
You’re beautiful and you’re intelligent. I know daddy didn’t tell you that soon enough.
The world honestly is not easy but you have to be tough.
Mommy and daddy got a divorce just before you’re 13 years old.
Selfishness and childish behavior will soon unfold.
You’re beautiful and you’re intelligent. I know daddy didn’t even think to tell you.
But don’t worry, it wasn’t ever your fault.
You’ll see that mommy and daddy won’t be there for you so what you learn will be self-taught.
You have to stay strong and don’t let Satan lead you down the wrong road.
I know they’ll make you mad but nobody's perfect. Don’t let your anger explode.
You’re beautiful and you’re intelligent. I know daddy didn’t care to tell you.
You have to start accepting and loving Akilah, it’ll be hard and it’ll feel new.
But once you realize your value and your worth,
What people say won’t matter especially if they live on earth.
You’re beautiful and you’re intelligent. Daddy didn’t tell you because he didn’t care.
Start praying to our Heavenly Father to fix what’s not there.
Stop trying to find that boy to fill the broken piece in your heart.
As soon as you give that “boy” everything, everything will fall apart.
Instead, love Akilah like how God does.
Don’t give your heart out to anymore “scrubs”.
A scrub is that boy who doesn’t want a relationship, but only wants relation.
A scrub is that boy who put your heart and mind in a sticky,
Tough to get out situation.
A scrub is that boy who thinks with his head, and not the kind of head who has face.
A scrub is that boy who breaks your heart, leaving you alone in that dark place.
So for me Akilah. Please let these boys go, and let the true Akilah shine.
This isn’t a coincidence, baby it’s a sign.
God loves you for who you are. God thinks you’re amazing and He knows you can shine like a star. God sees the beauty that you’ll soon see.
So what Akilah are you going to be?
Sincerely,
Akilah.
