You're Independent now !

Fifthteen, growing older and coming of age,

I knew that things were bound to change.

Not really knowing how to fill out an application,

I sat there with a great deal of hesitation.

Begging for mom's help, with feelings of despair

She said" Growing up is tough and unfair"

Seeing my mother struggle with bills,

I realized that life was a battle uphill.

Sixteen, working my first job

This was a challenge on how to deal with snobs

Lots of responsibility getting thrown my way,

I can now deal with them night & day.

Seventeen, junior year working so hard

I mentally gained awfully great scars.

Knowledge obtained through weekly college seminars,

So that I can be inspired to reach beyond the stars.

Experience taught me that money is not the key to life.

Education is what is needed to live with suffice.

Not just being educated in school but outside too.

Living with experience and knowledge is what I will continue to do.
