You're Magic To Me
Dear Kelly,
I love being
in love
with you, for you are like
a still ocean
with gently lapping waves and the strong scent of
salt and kelp
hanging under
cloudy grey
skies.
But you are also
a black cat napping
on a street sidewalk in the
warm afternoon sun
by a flower shop and it smells of the
heady perfume of flowers and
freshly baked
bread.
In addition, you are
a torrential downpour mixed with
hail
and great forks of lightning followed by
the long heavy percussion of thunder for a solid seven seconds
only a moment later
and the air is charged with perichor and
burnt ozone.
Along with that, you are
early Sunday mornings when the sky
is magic and
everything has the rose tint of
one of those special sunrises.
Even the fog drifting out of the forest is pink
and the house smells of apple shampoo and
old books.
I could go on forever,
but basically,
you are fantastic, and I love you,
and I thought you might need this because you find it so easy to forget
how wonderful you are.
So feel free to save this poem.
Maybe screenshot it,
or post it somewhere,
I don't know,
but promise me that you won't forget, ok?
You're magic to me.
With all the love in this world, and the next,
Your Best Friend
