"You're More Than That"

They look at you and see

trees and flowers

and gravestones.

They don't look at you like

midday sunshine,

They don't see your eyes

as two bowls

of early morning cereal.

They don't look at the tears

in your jeans

as rips in their

ego

and they don't get that

your lips are as

goddamn beautiful

as every hail storm they've

ever witnessed. (rough and loud)

When they look at you

they see peace,

gardens,

sanctuaries,

and daisies.

They see forests.

You are so much more

than surface beauty;

hold on to that mystery.
