You're the Teacher

The bell lectures, teacher rings- I don't know, too tired to think,

But I keep going with what's going on.

Others' eyes close, heads on their desks around me,

But I refuse to lose in this endless race to the top.

I listen- unsure what's fact or your opinion,

But I'd better beleive it for your test.

Last night I was up late doing the homework you assigned,

But no too late for me to forget how to become the best.

So I kept writing- english paper almost done,

But is it what you want to hear?

Sometimes what you think is good is so unclear,

But I'm still an honest person dispite the dishonesty around me.

Some of your students cheat, lie and are just plain lazy,

But do you ever notice?

Notice this- for every apathetic student here, there is a better, brighter, kinder kid who deserves to go to this school,

But these kids will never get the opportunity becasue this school is not free.

I am so thankful for much of the great insight you give to me,

But there is still so much that I wish you could see.....
