YOU'RE WORDS

WE WOKE UP FEELING JOYOUS AND RELIEVED

YOUR WORDS WERE LIKE A SOOTHING BALM TO OUR DREAMS

THEY FREED US FROM EVERY PAIN THAT HELD US DOWN.

YOUR PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES COULD BE COMPARED;

TO THE POUCH IN THE STOMACH OF MOTHER KANGAROO

IT HID US FROM EVERY DISTRACTION HENCE WE WERE VERY FOCUSED IN LIFE.

YOU’RE TESTIMONIES WERE LIKE AMOURS MADE OF IRON AND STRONG FIBER

IT PREVENTED US FROM THE BULLETS OF DISCOURAGEMENT

AND WE YET AGAIN STRIVE EVEN IN STORMY TIMES.

YOUR WORDS WERE LIKE SALT

THAT SPICED OUR FEAST OF EXPRESSION WITH POETRY AND JOURNALISM

WE FOUGHT AND TRIUMPH OVER ILLEGALITIES.

INDEED YOUR WORDS FELT LIKE THE BREATHE OF LIFE;

BECAUSE I KNEW WITHIN MY SOUL THAT I LIVED AGAIN
