Yours Truly

Dear Chaotic World,

Need I say why I come to you now

With words

But you already know why I am here

Need I smile in all falsehood

A lie

But you already know what I truly feel

Should I bare my heart to your ear

Telling all my tongue will permit

But why bother when I know you won’t listen

Should I show my scars to your eyes

Superficial and deep within

But why bother when you have caused them

Do I dare look to others for help

Help escape from the trap where I have fallen

But you are everywhere, always watching

Do I dare look to save myself

Find a remedy for this ailment you cause

But you are a poison for which there is no cure

She can see me

Of that I am sure

But you tell her all she sees is not true

He can hear me

Of that I am certain

But you tell him he hears only jests

I am trickery

I am sly

I am untruthful

I tell only lies

These fables from your lips do flow

Assuring all of creation I am fine

And they believe you

For if they cannot trust you, who can be trusted?

Yours Truly,

An Invisible Stranger
