Yours truly, Me.
Dear Me,
I see you in our past, so bright and full of life
Standing at the gates of high school
How I wish you knew of all the pain and strife
That awaited you, a bright and happy fool.
Your world was so complete and whole
Not one thing amiss,
Now confronted with battles than rend your soul
Ignorance, it seems, truly was our bliss.
And yet, while I scoff at all your foolish dreaming,
I can't help but think and see
Your smile was always beaming
Despite the darkness you faced, you always refused to flee.
As I sit here, at the brink of the end
To the final chapter of this story
I find your hope might extend
Even to me, helping me to glory.
Perhaps to dream is not that mad.
Perhaps there is a better world to be seen.
Perhaps I can gain that joy we had,
Perhaps our world could be what it had been.
As I leave this old life and pass you by,
Even knowing the challenges you face
I'm at peace wishing you goodbye
Knowing you will find your place.
Yours truly, Me.
