Youth

The fire that burned within my breast Now finds itself put to the test. My vibrant hues begin to fade A wilting bloom, a love betrayed. The laughter that once filled the air Now whispers sorrow and despair. The hopeful songs I used to sing Have lost their joyful, vibrant wing. My spirit, once a guiding star, Now dims and watches from afar. The dreams we built, a fragile art, Have crumbled, tearing me apart. The warmth I felt, a gentle breeze, Now chills me through the barren trees. My inner light, a fading gleam, Lost in this melancholic dream. The passion that I held so dear Has vanished with your silent fear. My soul, once bright, now feels so bare, Beneath the weight of your not there. The world I saw in vibrant shades, Is now in muted, lonely glades. My energy begins to wane, Washed out by sorrow’s constant rain. The fire that once consumed my soul, Now leaves me distant, far from whole. The love I thought would surely stay, Has turned and walked the other way. And with its leaving, something deep Has gone to slumber, lost in sleep. My spark, my joy, my inner fire, Has dimmed and died, beyond desire. The flame that warmed my hopeful heart, Has fled and left me torn apart. No longer do I shine so bright, Lost in the shadows of the night. My spirit’s song has ceased to sound, On lonely, unforgiving ground. The colors that I used to see, Are now just grey and cold to me. My hope’s last ember, faint and low, Has lost its heat, its gentle glow. The vibrant life that I possessed, Is now a hollow emptiness. My strength has ebbed, my spirit weak, The words of love I cannot speak. The world feels distant, dull, and grey, Since you have turned and walked away. The light that guided me so true, Has faded, and it wasn’t you.
