Youth

blurred we were beautiful

each and every one

fading fast as ephemeral flowers

with the looking glass

nothing but a deterrent

racing against each solid tock

fingers digging, raking, dragging

against the pull

we were nothing but exquisite

longing to be everything else

writhing against the omniscient force

of our own subconscious

inescapable

because the truth -

nobody wanted to be beautiful

we just wanted to be loved.

This is really beautiful. I think that you captured a feeling that is hard to put words to.
