Youth & Passion

Youth meets passion on a lonely road And stares with disbelief And neither knows that in that glance Is sown the seed of grief In summer months, when all is fair On saccharine they feed But all the while a wicked vine Grows from that small seed By and by this weed will grow And lay claim to each heart And those who once were intertwined Now find themselves apart Longing glances turn to glares Youth continues on its way But the road is lonelier still Since passion died that day
