#YOWO

Hashtag, you only write once on this digital stream
For a chance at an opportunity, a dream.
You sit and ponder, thinking of all the ways
to rewrite these versus - been staring for days.

You look up to the sky and see the stars above.
You look up at the moon. You think about love.
These have inspired others in their poetic quests.
It was worth a shot, your silent requests.

Flashback to the inspiration that you really need.
The times you made your fingers bleed,
Clawing and scraping at the walls around you.
Shouting to any who'd listen to poetry so true.

Think back to the entries sprawled over many blogs,
Ponder over what you typed in streams of text logs.
The pain, the joy, the sadness, the cheer,
The fun, the humility, the conquests, the fear..

For you see, poetry was not merely an outlet.
It was an expression of the thoughts you kept quiet.
Poetry is more than words upon a page,
It's more than anything manifested on stage.

Hastag, you only write once on this digital stream.
Was this the piece to realize that dream?

I am ecstatic beyond belief that Edgar Allen Poe, my all-time favorite poet, was listed in the Similitary rating. Righteous!
