Zimbabwe left poorer

Allow this vigilant past eye to say thanks,
where it is due
Yes!
Gratitude is the best attitude
Nothing escapes this vigilant eye of the past,
To say thank you where it is due
When the explosive tension gripped our home,
And our vision trodden under feet,
By wounded heard of buffaloes
Yes! When our hopes were gutted by fire
When we were at the verge of losing lives
And property

When families became prisoners of hope
When our home went up inflames
As a genuine fire fighter,
Dr George Cephas Msipa, you stood firm and remained resolute
Allow this vigilant eye to say thanks, where it is due

Yes! Dr Msipa,
Your fighting expertise propelled
You to a trajectory of recovery,
And sustainable existence
When tribal politics engulfed our community
You became the nation’s swift fire extinguisher

Yes!You managed to stand the taste of time
And put the fire under control,
Before the air around our homeland
Remained under the stench of ashes
When out voluminous farmed field caught fire
You executed your fire fighting prowess and the fire died
When pain and pitfalls of national consciousness suffocated the nation
When opposition parties loved unity of parties,
More than unity of purpose
You pondered over the despotic scene
Thinking beyond the ‘political messiah’ complex
Your cherished ideas was quick to confer solution,
Within the context of a highly polarised
And politically repressive society
Allow this vigilant eye to say thanks where it is due

By design, you became a leader with great sense of urgency at hand
And allowed the latitude to focus on more organic, livelihood matters
And superlative wisdom to redefine the national vision
An outstanding leader who acquired leadership,
With the ability to inspire Zimbabweans,
Irrespective of religion, culture, ethnicity
Color, creed and political affiliation

Designed to drive the nation towards national development
When the architecture of economic crisis and pot-bellied zeros went berserk
When the fuel and oxygen of the battered and tattered economy of the people’s democratic Republic,
Does as they pleases in the realm of funds looting nosedives agendas

It mind -boggled this vigilant eye,
As it sets its eyebrows sky-high
When hindrance of freedom of expression took center stage,
Dangerously manifesting into anarchy dictatorship
VaMsipa, you decided to remain with the ordinary povo
With a permanent state of emergency
And a full patriotic revolutionary vigilance
Yes! Your humbleness stood by the masses
Allow this vigilant eye to say thanks, where it is due
