Zoey

If eyes are the windows into the soul then what does the color of them mean? My eyes are brown. Who am I, because of this? Would I be gentler if my eyes were green? And if animals do not have souls, they merely have buttons for eyes, then what does it mean when my dog looks at me squarely in mine? What does that moment, when she can't look away because, for a moment, I have seen the soul within her that nobody else has, What does that moment mean? Ah, yes. I can see it clearly, now. She has no soul. For, when I look into her eyes, at a certain angle, they look green. Green. Green, gentle, monster eyes. Or maybe blue. I can never truly tell. Ah, yes. I can see it clearly now. As I shut my human, dog-shit-brown eyes, In my very human head.

I'm Lotus. I want to write about what it's like to breathe. Hopefully, someday, I will.
