Common Ground

The thought isn’t new,
Or reserved for a few,
That all we have,
Is all we can do.

Take time to pause,
Or take a minute,
To think of the world,
And where we stand in it.

The common thread,
That we all share,
Is the need for life,
Where we are aware,

There’s only so much,
To go around,
So we have to share,
This sacred ground.

This sacred ground,
Is a thing called Earth,
We continue to rob,
For all it’s worth.

I think we’re seeing,
This can’t go on,
As our numbers keep growing,
We could soon be gone.

I think we’re seeing,
In a bigger way,
This sacred ground,
Could go away.

I think we’re seeing,
We have the power,
To honor the Earth,
In our finest hour.

I believe we know,
What we can do,
Is look within,
To follow through,

The answer is,
We learn to share,
All we have,
Or all we can bare.

It’s the common ground,
We seek to find,
That comes from the heart,
And the common mind.
