“Food” is the thing with power


“Food” is the thing with power -

That maintains order upon everyone -        

Like a drug for survival -

That everyone craves -

 

And in its everlasting grip -

Leaves eyes bigger than stomachs -

And overwhelms self-control -

That kept so many determined -

 

I’ve heard it’s power before -

As my body roared in awe -

And left my senses hijacked -

Yet taken - every day - for granted.
