“Fools Gold”
a wealthy man
is blind to what he cannot see.
he walks through life
bathing in his riches.
yet he overlooks the simple things,
neglecting what truly matters.
he works long hours,
to give his children a good life
yet invests little time in being with them.
his concerns lie elsewhere,
he would rather put money in the bank
than get to know his loved ones.
as his children mature,
he questions where the years have gone
realizing what he has done.
his children are like him now,
their priorities are the same.
they are more in synch with finances,
than with their own children.
every moment of time,
has faded into darkness.
the time that has elapsed,
cannot be revived.
there are permanent rifts that cannot be remedied.
this is one of those families,
were its members are strangers under one roof.
if only someone had told him,
money only gets you material things.
fools at their best,
they were addicted to their gold.
never be like them,
a fool with one’s gold.
it will serve you know purpose
on the judgment day
