“Going, Going, Gone!”

Going, Going, Gone!
The auction is over and she is gone.
I didn’t win her, I lost her –
She is gone forever.
I am sorry, I am so sorry.
I said I would protect you, and I failed.
I failed!
She is guided down off the auction block.
Dressed in flowing white, she looks like a bride.
I failed her, I couldn’t save her –
He got her.
They take her to him and –
I can see the fear spread across her face
I can see it in her eyes and every twitch of her face.
He grabs her arm and holds it tight.
Fire flashes through his eyes,
He looks at me victoriously, he knows he has won.
His grip tightens and he leads her away.
I will never see her again, she is gone.
Burning tears are streaming down my face.
The tears are heavier now, heavy and uncontrollable –
The heavier they get the more they burn.
Gone forever, her fear torn face forever engraved in my brain.
As slave to master, she submissively follows.
Her flowing white now tattered and torn,
Lays beneath a mound of stone.
