“My Dearest Friend”

Whenever I'm stuck in darkness,
a light appears with a great brightness.
This is you; my dearest friend,
I know you will be there to the end.

Your hugs give me a warming embrace;
they remind me of my mother holding me when I was a young babe.
You give me such hope and joy,
feelings I haven't felt since I was a little boy.

If someone asked me “Who is an ideal friend?”
I couldn't think of anyone besides you instead.
The laughs we shared; the tears we shed,
all the happiness and all the dread.

We made it through to the end of those pains and joys;
We learned who our real friends are and those who would use us as toys.
My heart connected with yours and I believe yours connected to mine,
I'll look back to now in a few years and I'll have a smile when I remember these great times
