“Why I Wrote SlickkTolo’s Vision” — A Poem
“Why I Wrote SlickkTolo’s Vision” — A Poem
By BarTolo R. Maldonado (SlickkTolo)
I wrote this book
’cause my life was bigger than one block,
bigger than one story,
bigger than one version of me.
I carried worlds in my chest,
real battles in my past,
visions in my mind that refused to sit still.
I wrote it
because the streets raised me,
but the stars called me.
Because pain tried to break me,
but purpose rebuilt me.
I wrote it
to show that a kid from the Tri-State
could bend reality,
shift timelines,
and rewrite destiny with a pen.
I wrote it
because every lesson I learned
needed a universe big enough to hold it—
tech, magic, street wisdom,
all merging like sparks in the dark.
I wrote it
for the ones who feel unseen,
for the kids dreaming with the lights off,
for the adults searching for their power
in a world that tries to dim it.
I wrote it
to prove you can rise
from any version of yourself—
guardian, hustler, visionary, survivor—
all stitched into one soul.
I wrote it
’cause legacy ain’t money,
it’s what you leave in the minds you ignite.
I wrote it
to show transformation is real,
that multiverses live inside us,
that a single choice can shift galaxies.
I wrote it
to speak my truth,
to heal my past,
to build a future
where imagination has no chains.
This is my story.
My evolution.
My rebellion.
My prayer to the universe
written in rhyme and code.
This is why I wrote it—
to leave behind more than a name,
to leave behind a vision.
SlickkTolo’s Vision.

▾ This Poem's Voice
Your Poem's Voice
Personal narrative grounded in author's life; some abstract reflection on transformation.
Dense layering of ideas: legacy, transformation, pain, purpose, multiverses compressed tightly.
Predominantly positive; empowering message despite acknowledgment of past pain and struggle.
High kinetic intensity; declarative force, anaphora, urgent voice demanding to be heard.
Approximately 52 lines; falls in 31-60 range.
Metaphors (worlds in chest, sparks in dark, galaxies), personification (pain breaks, purpose rebuilds).
Pure lyric internal voice; introspective meditation on personal motivation and authorship.
