Frail

January 10, 2018

Frail are the hollow bones

That tread on dusty earth.

It eats at you when you're alone

Goosbumps vasish by the hearth.

Every puddle drains to the sea,

Every ember loses heat,

Defiant stars decend from heaven

Only to burn in blue ectasy.

Evergreens refuse to shead their leaves

And stand naked in the winters breeze,

but trucks drive past everyday

with wooden carcuses sliced and slain.

As the ocean's wave kisses the shore

He takes from her a little more, a little more.

Through the years he will carve away

what she has toiled so hard to create.

Darling you may believe in the resilience of life;

but I am inclined to believe the latter.

As the hard years stream by

they hardly flatter,

And just as the mussle clutches

to the rock on which it stands,

We all are simply holding on

Just as long as we can.
