ONLY THE POOR WISH

May 31, 2025

God - is a pawnshop

windows smeared with breathes

- desperate auctions of bones -

LIFE FOR RENT

peepling from a brick face

of a building no one owns

MEAT. BREAD. DIGNITY.

needs served as options

- today's special - SOLD OUT

Concrete -

puddles of spit,

oil,

blood -

mirror the sky's indifference

Coins - fall - like - prayers

never landing

in the right hands

A child -

brittle-ribbed,

breed with thirst,

laughs,

at a mannequin in a fur coat -

The obscene miracle of comfort

In another world

WISH -

 not just for yachts

not for silk fabrics

not for diamond jewelries -

but for the abolition of lines -

queues -

borders -

ranks -

doors that split the air between THEM & US

WISH -

for the landlord to forget the rent is up

for the school to declare a scholarship for every student -

for the currency of hunger

to collapse to dust -

for boots to unlace themselves

and let the barefoot pass

WISH -

that God

- if she's hearing -

spits manna

into the streets

- and lets the poor chew
