Solace in a time of need

September 8, 2014

Give me solace in the time of need

This can’t be life, I need some space to breathe.

I been staring at the same clock swinging its hands at me

I don’t think I can give another round.

Seven years a slave to a system that promised emancipation

but i still feel the weight of poverty on my shoulders despite my education.

Love has no value without trust

And I live with people that love to lie to me.

who tell me that they will be there for me, but fly away like pigeons do to the slighest sound.

False hope is like a broken glass, trying to hold water

Praying for a grip, watching it all just slip away.

I know that I’m worth more than what they bartered for

But, they caged me in restraint to hide my sense of creativity

Destroyed my sense of confidence with humiliation for my character

Feed to me with conviction…………like it was a proverb

I know I haven’t reached many peaks in life

But I am not a coward

I might be damaged by crooked dogmatic systems that we live in

But I am not broken

I might look a hot mess in the rags that I wear

But that’s just hard work disguised in struggle.

My tomorrows will have failures

And sceptics will criticize me

Claiming reasons why I’ll never achieve anything

But firm in my heart next to pain lies persistence

And even with the oppositions that face me

I still have a vision that will come to life.

Just give me solace in a time of need.
