Warped

July 11, 2014

I do not believe in fairytales.

I believe in the messy parts of life,

because those are the times I feel most alive.

I believe in sweat,

the sweat of too many people crowding into a concert,

and the sweat of two people who can't get close enough.

I believe in dirt and tears and lost voices,

sunburns and the soothing coolness of a breeze.

I believe in runny makeup and messy hair,

in screaming and fighting and sleepless nights.

I believe in real life, in all its imperfect glory.

That is to say, I still believe in you and me.
