Conquered

July 12, 2016

Poetry you sing to my heart with your rhyme and rhythm

You make me dance as I begin to write lines

My every thought is of you

Even in my dreams I can not escape

As I lay to sleep my hand begins to itch

Not even a scratch will satisfiy

I fight to sleep and not write that rhyme

I toss and turn to get my rest

But in the end poetry you win

I wrote a poem and off to sleep I went

But once again my slumber of sleep was awoken

When poetry knocked on my heart

Poetry you win I will write until the end

You have conquered me with your rhyme and rhythm

I have become your slave

Captured even in my sleep
