My Family- Free Verse
He’s the beanstalk from the fairy-tale
Letting Jack climb up to steal a golden grail
Except the grail is grades,
And the beanstalk is blockades
Challenging him with every piece of work he has.
In school he was known as Private Investigator Jack Steel
Let’s just say he wasn’t very happy with that deal
She doesn’t work nine to five
Sometimes she comes home sleep deprived
With shifts A, B and C
Sometimes even the occasional E
Born in the USA, she isn’t even Aussie
But she always plans trips where we get eaten alive by Mossies
No matter how hard she tries to be cool,
She’ll always look like a fool
He’s always out the back
The complete opposite of Jack
He’s most likely working on a new knife
Cutting and sharpening causing little strife
His job includes electricity
And when he describes it is sounds like does it with such simplicity
Spike and Snake
Some people thought they were fakes
Until they saw the flakes of skin
Siting in the garbage bin
Relaxing in the water bowl
Or sleeping in their little hidey-hole
Resting under the heat lamp
Because their still the tiniest bit damp
