Can You Hear

July 21, 2014

Can you hear me?

I wonder.

When you left

Did you have any idea

How much pain you left behind?

Perhaps you did.

In storing yourself in a place

Too high to reach,

You left that pain for others to bear.

Perhaps you didn't.

You may not have seen

What fragments and memories

You left behind.

Tears,

Once your only comfort.

As they slide down my face,

Hot and wet,

They remind me once again

Of your presence.

Your memories

Once rich and warm

Now a cold place in my mind

I fear to visit.

Sleep well,

And I pray you can hear me.
