I hate myself for hating

January 26, 2022

I hate myself for hating myself for hating myself,

so I sit and eat me.

But, how can I, could I, for so long if I wasn’t enough or tasty?

But I'm still standing upon this shelf

and as I'm looking down,

I feel as though I'm by myself,

I see the waves crash all around.

They try to throw the rock away

while I play Simon says,

this world is a game but not a race;

please Lord, one more day,

we shall be United soon;

you and I, son and moon.

Now I sit thinking on this shelf,

as I keep looking down,

watching the tides crashing on the rock,

dragging definitions all around.

Oh Peter, won't you pray for them?

And Peter, won't you stand?

On this rock we can defend,

but we are mearly mortal men.
