CHASM OF THE MIND

November 13, 2019
She said, "you look worried" But 'worried' is an understatement I am troubled I feel like am alive but buried If only 'if only' really came to life Only then would I feel more alive if only 'what if' could happen Then what saddens me would let go all of a sudden She said, "you look lost" But I am mostly entangled in the paradigm shift I am but a cluster of words Lost in letters, looking for a passage Seeking for a meaning to thoughts but the meaning slowly fades Fading into flames turning words to ashes 'What if' we had a pair of eyes in our brains? 'If only' we saw wrong thoughts coming we wouldn't have to open the door whenever they knocked My mind is both the burnt Savannah forest left to gleam And a sprouting equatorial forest yet to be green She said, "your mind is an absurd world" A blurry line between tamed and wild But a poet's mind is a universe Full of prose, parables and proverbs in a uni- verse Full of people, purpose and plans Full of loners, lovers, kingdoms and clans My mind is a theater of time and age Where violins play and plays parade on stage Where lunatics and clowns laugh amid the sound that grieves For they live to please so they please to live She said, "you are just being paranoid" She may be right or maybe not all she does is sit all day in a sofa With more criticism and paranoia to offer Maybe she regards herself a pivot to my focus Oh! She forgets that she's nothing but a conscience
