Fear of the unknown

February 7, 2019

You know what I want to be when I grow up,

I want to know it all, and that’s enough.

For me, it’s not about what I want to be,

It’s about “What is that” and “Where are we”

I want to take us to heights we should never see

What I want to know is the facts, to be exact

I want the look in the face of the sky,

And the eyes of the stars

Them looking confused and sincere

I would proclaim;

“I know why we are here”

And they would scream, they would roar.

The stench of why they would small no more

All the fighting would stop, there would be no gore

I would know what is at this planets core

I could take us high, and we would soar

I would sit atop the cosmos tree

Look to my left, at God sitting next to me

He would begin to speak, but I would say

         “I already understand”

Not of the plan, but why all the pain

And why he created man

Then I would sit back on that branch

Listen to him speak, hear his stance

Analyzed his words, become reentranced

Then I would look out

Him proudly looking down at me, and me leaning on him

And I would look far out from that tree

At something bright; warmth would shoot through me

Could it be sunset to end all others?

Or long-lost galaxies colliding into one another

Don’t ask me, I wouldn’t know

Curiosity has a pull on me, and it just won’t let go

I would dive to find out,

My quest for knowledge is never over.
