Strength of the Brokenhearted

July 23, 2013

Beauty is standing in a moment of hardship, when it would be so easy to fall. It is holding your ground, proving beyond doubt that you are not weak and have what it takes to make it on your own. Beauty is in the Strength of the Brokenhearted...

Her eyes stared longingly through the iron glass,
Windows of fragile steel that barred her desperate pass,
The world beyond held a crystal sky,
But caged in darkness the angel cried,

Broken by the violence they'd made,
A mere shadow of what she had been,
Her beauty began to fade,
As they tortured her soul with sin,

For a lifetime they'd beaten her down,
So that she would surrender in fear,
But the Angel grew tired of cowering,
And refused to drown in her tears,

Her life had been trying and long,
But through the pain her young heart grew strong,
Beauty flashed fierce in her sallow cheeks,
Refrained tears screaming that she wasn't weak,

In a defiant stand she spread her wings and prepared to fly,
Upon placing her hand on the threshold,
She found there was naught between her and the sky.
