To write a poem

July 26, 2013

Do they care for what I am?

Do they see the truth in me?

Because it feels as though my words are frivolous,

As though no one can see.

That what I've got is meant for them

To test, to poke, to prod.

To figure out

And then they'll find

That this is no facade*.

I want to get a point across.

To write something that lingers.

I want to make a masterpiece,

Let beauty flow from my fingers.

I want to write a piece of work

That's truly worth your while.

I want to ask for just an inch,

And really take a mile.

I want to live a life that's free

Where people see the good.

I want to sing out in the open

Not just say I should.

And 'cause I've asked so very much

I'll finish now with this:

Appreciate who and what you have

And strive for utter bliss.
