Headrest

September 28, 2015

I wonder what he thinks

When he rests his head upon my chest.

I wonder if he hears the hollow hallways

Of his heart, the echoes which run deep

Inside his veins and through his chambers.

I wonder if they drum against his ears,

If he mistakes them for my heartbeat.

I wonder what he thinks when he is silent,

Or if he is just resting.

I wonder if I put his heart to rest.
