Thoughts

April 7, 2016

alone to be just
me and all my thoughts
a scary thing to
think i thought

to sit and do nothing
and do nothing but think
who knows what i'll do
what things i might think

some thoughts are scary
those big and those small
some thoughts i just don't like them
no not at all

i'll think of the worst
what if nightmares come true
i think of it all,
But then I think of you

I think of the thoughts I thought I had lost
Of people and places and things
Things like colors, hues, shades, tints, and wash-
A feeling of happiness this brings

My senses are flooded by memories dear
Things I long to see, taste, touch, smell, and hear,
Then my muscles relax and my mind is at peace
I see that the thoughts aren't for me to cease

I may feel alone, deserted, and lost,
But I must remember, I am not
Remember to remember all that there is
Remember a life and the lives that do live

Some thoughts are good and some thoughts are bad,
But it's better to have thoughts
Than for the thoughts to have never been had

Being alone, just me and my thoughts
Doesn't make me any lesser,

I realize now that I get to have thoughts,
It is thoughts that keep us together.
