A Different Me

December 9, 2013

I wasn’t happy with me,

So I tried being a different me.

I tried to be the me everyone else wanted to see

I put on a mask, a façade

Became something that I was NOT

I was always playing a new part.

Trying to be a girl that I really wasn’t in my heart.

I made everyone think I was alright

While I truly wanted to die inside.

I HATED ME.

You see, I was running so hard

and so far,

from the God reaching out for  what little remained of my heart.

But eventually I stumbled,

I fell,

and I found myself down on my knees

I told God I’d be whoever he wanted me to be

And you’re never  going to believe what he told me.

He said he just wanted me to be ME.

Because that’s who I was meant to be.

He said that I was fearfully and wonderfully made

And I didn’t need to change a thing.

And ultimately he loved me for ME.

Yes, me, the girl who had fallen so far, so short.

The girl with the shattered heart

He picked me up, dusted me off, and gave me a brand new start.

He healed that broken heart

You see, there’s nothing wrong with me, I’m made the way I was meant to be.

Flawed, rejected, missed up, misdirected.

Everything that makes me, ME

The me God called me to be.

Those mistakes, flaws, and pain have made me the woman I am today.

Yes, it  hurt, but the lesson was learned.

And the Healer showed me that he is who promised he’d be.

The superhero that flew through my day dreams.

My prince charming no man ever could be.

The love I was looking for,  but would never find,

My, well, everything.
