If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

7 poems·Since August 2017

I'm 26 years old and currently a grad student earning my masters in psychology. I have worked very hard to get where I am struggling through mental illness. I have achieved what few have with my diagnosis and I have noticed that the more I learned the more I got healthier. I also realized that I got more creative too and I like guitar, violin, painting, pottery and poetry. My favorite author by my bedside is Shakespeare.

Radioactive Planet

August 17, 2017

Mercury, Venus, Saturn,

All the planets, the same pattern,

If we listen to their patter,

Our world is bones from their matter.

The Sun has scorched the planes of Mars,

Compared to war, we die for cars, we mow our lawns,

Why not let the world grow green versus bars,

Windows closed to block out stars.

The wind and Earth delight in rain,

Indigestion gives us pain,

The acid rain hurts, this plain,

Is why we see the Garden of Earthly Delights disdain,

Instead of living in this town forever,

Human beings who share one endeavor,

Thought of themselves as more clever,

Now the Earth is black and red ember. Water is still, over the deep.
