Is It Wrong?
Sure,
You view your soul as an empty chasm of despair,
But that doesn’t mean it’s uninhabitable,
Because the empty walls that your heart echoes against?...
They were built for a reason.
Delicately placed but rooted with the strength of god,
Purposely seeded in the places where you’re most vulnerable,
Is that wrong?...
Is it wrong that where it hurts the most,
Where the pain makes you squint your eyes and grit your teeth,
Where your cries reverb throughout the empty hallways of your mind,
Also shapes you into who you are?...
Is it wrong to have your strength built upon a foundation of agony?
Or…
Does it make you appreciate it all the more?...
That for the times you are hurt
You have the means to recover from the stab wound…
That when you are marked with sadness and uncertainty,
You have the advantage because you brought a gun to the knife fight?...
Sure,
You view your self-value as a shallow puddle soon to be dried by the sun…
But that doesn’t mean it isn’t capable of sustaining worth,
Even if the things that make you incredible are microscopic in your eyes,
But are monumental in the sights of others,
Bursting through the ground like a sapling put on fast forward,
Stretching and reaching for the sun like a racehorse to the finish line…
Is it wrong?
Is it wrong that everyone else can see it except for you?
That everyone else can point out all of the beautiful things you wish you were,
That when you look in the mirror you see a faceless, meaningless shape?
Or…
Does everyone’s words light the wick the burns all the way to the top of your barriers,
Exploding any hint of self-doubt that my have blocked the entrance of your confidence?
Do they knock down the blast doors with a wrecking ball?
The doors that once sheltered you from the radioactive wasteland you thought was you?
Sure,
You may feel minuscule compared to the world around you,
A speck on the windshield of life
But you?
No.
You are a super nova exploding with life and promise,
Oozing feats you had once deemed impossible
Breaking through the glass ceiling that you once stared through,
Dreaming of a chance to be something new.
Dreams can be reality,
You can touch them, see them, and taste them…
Do you feel it?...
Can you see it?...
Is it dancing on the tips of your taste buds?...
Because you should be able to say yes to all of those questions…
It’s in front of you, waiting for you to lift up your hand and grab it…
Seize your chance while its still orbiting your potential…
And be who you set out to be
