Ode to Track

February 9, 2018

When I’m on the track It’s beast mode

My mind is focused my body explodes

I get in position My feet on the rocks

I’m not racing you I’m racing the clock

Visualizing that the race is all mine

I see nothing and no one just the finish line

All is well with the wind at my back

To help accelerate me down the track

First place gold medal is my goal

I’m in the zone about to take control

On your mark get set and the gun is shot

Not second, or third but the number one spot

When it comes to sports track is one

When I run or jump I get the job done

I also love doing the triple jump

It helps get my adrenaline pumped

I love track It’s a part of me

The part that I chose to set free

The part that of my childhood I will keep

Locked in my memories so I can take a peep
