Defined

November 6, 2015

Student.

Dancer.

Teacher.

Diligent.

Caring.

Messy.

Pianist.

Impatient.

Average.

Intelligent.

Artist.

Brunette.

Woman.

Truthful.

Broken.

Lovely.

Perfectionist.

Physicist.

Determined.

All words they use to define me.

And while they may contain embedded truth and deep meaning,

They are nothing but nouns and adjectives.

Words on a page.

Passive and cold,

Lacking action and emotion.

And I am defined by more than these.

I am living, breathing, loving, teaching, wishing.

I am breaking, healing, searching, feeling, trying.

I am adapting, seeing, planning, being, hoping.

I am writing, dreaming, solving, achieving, improving.

I am working, failing, learning, sailing, fixing.

And yet I am still not defined by these words on a page,

but by the choices and actions I have made.
