Pretend

April 1, 2014

You know, I still pretend it's not over sometimes

that I'll make the drive up to see you in a few days

that I'll shake your fathers hand

give your mother a hug

hold your sisters in a warm embrace

and kiss you slowly, telling you that I'm so happy to see your beautiful face.

I pretend that's still my world

but it isn't

it's gone.

You took a lot from me when you left

because I lost more than you

I lost my whole world

And that's not something I can rebuild.
