You brought me into the world A year after they said you couldn't. You gave me a name and a home. A family, a life And all the loves in between. And you loved me more Than I would ever know. You were afraid. You were sensitive. Whenever I walked with you, You would be embarrassed For my sake. Why did you apologize? You bore me, And raised me, And saved me. If I were ever embarrassed to stand by you Then I would deserve A death more painful than life. Please don't apologize. You bring me no shame. I was afraid to ask, I was afraid to confess. But you were gentle And you spared me. Now, I am terrified. I will have less time with you Than everyone else with theirs. You will leave me Years before I'm ready Why did I come So late? So I'll hold you while I have you And love you while I can And never bring cause For the regrets Mr. Milne Must have held. And until the end of the book, Until you breathe your last Until the time In which we say goodbye Please stay with me And please always be My Mother.
