Something

October 10, 2015

When I was younger,

I was told that I could be anything.

And in a world of possibilities,

I thought to myself all the things

I would become.

I could be a princess

Or an astronaut.

Yet I thought to myself,

"I will be pretty".

When I was a preteen,

Stuck in between the akward years

Where my face was plasted with acne

And my body kept changing,

I lost hope on being pretty.

I was taunted and poked,

And at times I felt alone.

So I thought to myself.

"I am nothing."

In high school,

Everything started to change.

As I looked around

And saw all the friends I made,

I began to realize that

Even though I am not pretty,

I am not nothing.

I realize now that

I am and will become

Something.
