Under the Blankets
January 8, 2016
The air is clear
My toes curl up
As light
Hides in its veil.
Doors creak shut
All has ceased
To move
But the clock’s hand.
I pull the blankets
Shiver, stop
And wait
For warmth to fill.
Yet the space
Under remains
Cold—but
I must sleep.
