precious

January 14, 2017

Life is said to be precious

But when hurt so many times, I have to disagree

Life is quick and painful

Leaving time only for you

to question your choices

Your choice to let those you love most

Crush your dreams and goals

When you let someone into your life

They are bound to hurt you

And yet you still love them

You accept them readily back into your arms

Only to watch them rip

Your body limb from limb again

Leaving your heart intact

Only to crush it beneath their feet

Leaving you to reattach the pieces together

Waiting to come in again

Like a toddler with a tantrum

breaking his favorite toy
