Fight or Flight

February 9, 2017

Facebook is how I knew your name

You were a profile before you were a person

A series of “likes” in a sea of dog videos

Until one day you were more than just a head and shoulders

You were a person

A person with the name of a princess

A person with one damn cute smile

You smile

I smile

Like a smile that was contagious

An infection is what you gave me

My symptoms: Happiness, laughter, and some pretty great inside jokes

We had one of those nights that goes into a halmark film

What if it was too good to be true

A facebook notification

She sent you a message

“I had a great time”

I reply “Me too, exclamation point, smiley face emoji”

In my head: Well define great?

Like great we should do this again or

great I never want to see you or speak to you again

Great i'm ugly

Great you hate me

Great it’s 4 am and you’ve been thinking about this for 3 hours

I need sleep

Wake up

Go to class

I see you walk down the hall

You smile

I smile

Here we go again

A ferris wheel full of highs and lows

That I will never get off of
