Mightier than the Ear

October 30, 2016

Could I ever write a poem

That would change the

Minds of men,

Words that would make the

World stop turning

And halt the advance of time.

A verse to stop the wars,

A verse to stop the killing.

Words to open the eyes

And start the heart beating.

The pen is mightier than

The sword.

But can it make them listen.

Listen to their history,

The tortured screams beneath the earth

The sorrowed nations

The wronged and doomed.

Make them listen to the tears

Of hands holding limp bundles

The sounds of life ending

Make them see the destruction

Their decisions caused.
