Beneath the Weeping Willow

July 17, 2024
I kneel beneath the weeping willow, Its tendrils brushing my bowed head. The ground is soddened with my tears, As I contemplate the final bed. Here, where the shadows fall the longest, I keep my lonely vigil and pray. For in this place, time seems to falter, As I await the coming of that day. The air is thick with sorrow's perfume, My heart a symphonic dirge of pain. Yet through the veil of my despair, I sense a glimmer, a refrain - A promise of eternal morning, When darkness gives way to light. This tomb shall burst with resurrection, Your victory, O Death, takes flight! So, I will wait with hope unshaken, Though my soul is steeped in grief. For I know the Savior waits to meet me, And in His arms, find sweet relief.
