Lacing Up

September 30, 2016

I dream of a world with a beautiful view

I wake to a world that whispers its truth.

“Rise up and go, it’s your day to seize,”

Is what the bright new sky says from the east.

I obey the whisper and lace up my shoes.

The sun is my guide, the road is my muse.

The air fills my lungs, the birds cheer me on,

They sing to my heart “’tis where you belong.”

When my feet hit the road, I run toward the rise.

I open my heart and I open my eyes.

I look for the truth of who I’m meant to be.

It’s the gift of running that sets my soul free.

This greeting of life is hard to explain

It’s hard to describe choosing beauty not pain.

I can dream all night long or can make it come true.

The day is waiting for me, and it’s waiting for you.
